BUNDLED PAYMENT FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions for Patients NOT Using Traditional Insurance

What if the surgery I need is not listed on your pricing page?

Self pay patients are not limited to the surgeries listed on our website.  If you feel your need is not included on our pricing page, please make note of what type of procedure you are seeking in the “Request a Consultation” link at the top of this webpage.

What is included in the price?

If you are approved for surgery, the facility fee, surgeon’s fee, and anesthesiologist’s fee are included in the price. (See the pricing page for specific procedures which may require additional fees such as implants)

Will a surgeon be selected for me?

If you do not have a preference, a surgeon will be selected based upon your surgical needs. To see a list of our orthopaedic specialist, click here.

After my consultation visit, what if the surgeon does not believe I am a good candidate for surgery?

Included in our bundled price is a $200 surgical consultation fee. If you are not a candidate for surgery, you would not be required to pay anything other than the $200 surgical consultation fee. We will do everything we can to avoid a situation where surgery is cancelled following the $200 surgical consultation. Most pre-surgical screening will take place before stepping foot into our surgeon’s office. It has been our experience that most cancellations following a visit with the surgeon are due to a patient not being fully transparent during the screening process or not following the pre-surgery instructions. Transparency with your health history and your ability to follow pre-surgical instructions are critical to ensuring your safety and we will cancel a procedure if we feel it is in the best interest of your safety.

Who receives my payment?

All payments are made to Orthopaedic Surgery Center of Clearwater with the exception of the surgical consultation fee. This will be due and collected at the surgeon’s office. The payment received by the surgery center is distributed amongst the surgery center, physician’s office, and anesthesia provider. This distribution is administered by Orthopaedic Surgery Center of Clearwater.

What are the acceptable payment methods?

We prefer cashier’s check or cash. Credit cards are accepted with an additional charge of 3.5% of the total bill. This percentage reflects the amount we are charged by the credit card processing company. Human resource departments or divisions of self-insured companies can make other arrangements if necessary.

Can payment arrangements be made?

Payment in full is required at the time of your surgical visit. No payment arrangements can be made. We are able to offer our discounted self-pay prices because the administration costs and risks associated with payment plans are removed if we require full upfront payment. Human resource departments or divisions of self-insured companies can make other arrangements if necessary.

Do you provide overnight care?

Ambulatory surgery centers specialize in minimally invasive same day care. Therefore, overnight stays would not be necessary. If you are traveling from out of town, we are happy to share pricing information for multiple hotels located on the award winning Clearwater Beach. We have partnered with hotels at different budget price points to meet your needs. These hotels will offer discounts of 20-30% for your stay when you utilize our surgery center for your surgical needs. Just mention to one of our team members what days you would like to stay at the hotel and we will be happy to provide you with a price list.

What is the infection rate at OSCC?

Wherever you decide to have your surgery, you should inquire about the rate of infection in their facility. Our rate of infection is 0.17% Our infection rate remains exceptionally low compared with an estimated national average that ranges between 3-5% for ambulatory care.
